Sue Bojdak was raised in Western New York (outside of Rochester). She lived in Minnesota, Long Island, and Jerusalem while earning her BA in Religious Studies. Sue continued on to earn an MA in Divinity at the University of Chicago. After graduate school, Sue migrated to the San Francisco Bay Area where she has lived since 1995.

Following a short stint in homeless services, during which Sue earned a California Adult Education Credential, Sue began working in Jewish education. Over 25 years Sue served as Director of Education in three Bay Area congregations where she collaboratively visioned, redesigned, and led Jewish educational programs for people of all ages. Joyful play, opening to the sacred, and cultivating curiosity are at the heart of Sue's education practice, which is why she loves Torah Godly Play.

Sue first encountered Torah Godly Play when she met her colleagues through the JTS Fellowship in Educating for Applied Jewish Wisdom. Inspired by their work, Sue got trained as a Godly Play facilitator at a local Presbyterian church. Torah Godly Play became an anchor practice for her community during the COVID lockdown, and Sue has continued to use Torah Godly Play in her work, telling stories and training and supporting teachers to tell stories ever since. The depth and simplicity of this kind of telling and teaching continues to amaze her.

Sue currently works as an independent Jewish educator, consulting and teaching in a variety of settings. Sue also has a private practice as a spiritual director and reiki practitioner.
